Although I do not support Moralistic Therapeutic Deism (MTD), it is a true reflection of the current society. Many teenagers are portraying superficial beliefs that do not align with Christian teachings. However, MTD dominates the thoughts, faith, ideas, and feelings of most individuals at all stages of life including older adults. Therefore, this paper’s primary focus is to support an argument that MTD is the prevailing ‘religion’ in society today.

According to the first point of MTD, there is a god that brought the world into existence and is closely following human life. For instance, many people are not committed to Christianity or other religions but still believe that there is a supernatural power behind all the creations. The second point stresses that God wants us to have good therapeutic relations with one another. In the current world, people are focused on earthly relationships and forgetting to strengthen their relationship with God. Wronging others is no longer regarded as a sin but a sign of immorality. According to the third point of MTD, the main reason for existence is to feel good and happy. Many individuals are focused on worldly materials such as clothes and cars to obtain happiness. However, Christians teach that God created us to glorify Him and take care of His creations.

The fourth point of MTD indicates that God only intervenes in people’s lives when there is a problem. For example, large populations only pray or visit the places of worship to Glorify God when facing life challenges. In the last point of MTD, the souls of those friendly and fair to others are taken to heaven. For example, many of my friends are not committed to the ten commandments of the Bible but believe that they will go to heaven because they comply with societal moral values. Therefore, MTD has dominated the religion of the current world.
