Therefore, mindfulness breathing is a process of preparing the mind before a competition and training the mind to work under high pressure of the completion and still be able to produce the best results.
For an athlete like Danz, she must realize that training for the competition and the competition are two different stages. An athlete may be physically ready and able to win, but if the mind is not focused, they will still lose. With mindful training, Danz would know how to calm herself during the competition and avoid being distracted by the many distractors surrounding her (Pratt-Kielley, 2020). Mindful training helps her concentrate her physical ability and combine it with her mental health to achieve the best results. Focusing on the competition and having a robust cognitive ability distinguishes winner athletes from the rest.
For athletes to improve performance, they must decipher their environment and know how to differentiate the distractions from the goals. Mindfulness helps to concentrate all the individual’s abilities towards their goals, and in doing so, this ensures that chances of success are increased. Mindfulness is not just important to athletes, and it is also essential to individuals who require strong mental health for performance. When the focus is channeled towards a goal, the performance towards achieving this goal is boosted. Therefore, mindfulness is essential and a must-have skill for any individual that aspires to achieve greatness.
