I would prefer to live in a capitalist system where the government provides some type of aid or assistance to people, for example, to satisfy the basic education and healthcare needs. In its pure form, capitalism does not allow for free products or services for the citizens (“-BUS 447,” 2021). For example, in the United States, Medicare and Medicaid systems that account for citizens’ health who cannot afford health insurance would be impossible under a purely capitalist system. Long (2020) describes the American healthcare system as “the worst effect of capitalism”, and I agree. I would want a system where health concerns would be a lesser problem, and people would not fear to go to the hospital because of the cost.

Due to the fact that the government’s role is to protect the citizens and resolve social issues, no country would be an example of pure capitalism in the word. Under the socialism system, the government addresses social issues differently by providing healthcare or education services to the citizens (“-BUS 447,” 2021). However, socialism allows for the social differentiation among the classes, and for example, people can have different incomes. However, the citizens have to pay high tax rates to support this system (“-BUS 447,” 2021). Considering the high tax rates and the government’s strong involvement in citizens’ lives, I would prefer not to live in such a system.

In its pure form, communism implies that the government is responsible for resolving all the social problems. Hence I would not want to in this system because it takes away all the incentives to study and develop. In conclusion, I prefer to live in a capitalist system, with some exclusions for healthcare and education as these are a person’s basic needs.
